The final race of the 2011 drag racing season was run on August 27.

It will be exhibition hockey with an edge when four CIHL north-western teams - the Kitimat Ice Demons, the Terrace River Kings, the Prince Rupert Rampage and the Smithers Steelheads - gather in Kitimat over the weekend of September 23-24 to compete in two double-headers of hard hitting hockey, for Ice Demons’ Northern Challenge Cup.

Sport BC will honour four dedicated local sport leaders next Wednesday, September 14 with the Community Sport Hero Awards presented by Encana.

Some 32 bodies hit the ice Tuesday, Sept. 6 for the first of three nights of the Kitimat Ice Demons annual tryouts.

The Kitimat Ice Demons, traditionally league leaders in its previous nine years in the Central Interior Senior Men’s hockey scene, will be intent on being “better prepared” and ready to win as the club enters its 10th anniversary season this October.

The 18th annual Ladies softball tournament in Kitimat was Aug 6th & 7th this year.

Seventy-six ladies from Armstrong, Prince George, Burns Lake, Houston, Smithers, Prince Rupert, Terrace, South Carolina and Kitimat took to the links July 23-24 for the annual Ladies Team Scramble Open.

The Kitimat Marlins sent four swimmers to the AAA Provincial long course (50 metre pool) swimming Championships in Victoria.

Sport BC is bringing the Community Sport Hero Awards to Kitimat on August 30.
