Kitimat will be thronging with people this weekend as the town plays host to the Bantam Tier 4 Championships.

Bantam teams from Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Langley, Windermere Valley and 100 Mile House will take to the ice at the Tamitik arena for top honours.

Kitimat Minor Hockey Association President Tania Pacheco welcomed the players, team officials, and families that will be travelling to participate in the championships.

“It is always exciting to welcome old and new friends to our community, especially for such an exciting event. It is our intention that all participants have an enjoyable and everlasting memory,” said Pacheco.

She said without the many hours of hard work from the Championship Committee, an event of this magnitude would not be possible.

“The effort and countless hours of personal time from all our volunteers cannot be appreciated enough,” said Pacheco.

She also thanked the many businesses and organizations and the community at large that contributed to the event.

“This is a great example of how partnerships that have been created ensure the success of this great event.”
