Trevor Amos decided to take on the task of organizing a Polar Bear Swim, held in Kitamaat Village on January 1 from the Village's marina's boat launch.
Doing so continues the Kitimat area's tradition of jumping into the Douglas Channel on New Years Day, braving a bath in chilly salt water.
About 10 people attended the event, which was followed up by some welcome hot dogs and hot chocolates around a fire.
In the past the event had been held at the Hospital Beach boat launch on the opposite side of the Douglas Channel from the Village.
