1929-2020 ~ It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of long time Kitimat resident, Steve Chorney, at the age of 91 on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. He passed away peacefully from natural causes in Kitimat, BC where he has lived in the same house since 1956.
Steve will be dearly missed and is survived by his son David (wife, Debbie), his three grandchildren Chelsa (great-grandchildren Ashton & Aayla), Thomas (wife, Renae) & Joleen. He was so proud of them all and loved them dearly.
Steve was born in Hryhoriw, Ukraine in 1929 and immigrated to Saskatchewan at 7 years old. Steve moved to Kitimat, BC in 1956 with his late wife, Laverne where he had a successful career at Alcan, where he flew there in '56 on a float plane & retired in 1989. Together they raised their only son, David.
Steve was a great father, a hardworking, loyal and caring man. He was as strong as they come.
He will be missed every single day and we are forever grateful for the significant impact he left in all of our lives and hearts. Until we meet again. Miss and love you forever, Dad/Grandpa.
