September 27, 1955 - January 5, 2025

In Loving Memory ~

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sadie Kotai (Oxford), our dear mother, stepmother, grandmother, and wife on January 5th, 2025.

Sadie was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland on September 27, 1955. She was raised by her loving parents, Raymond and Grace Oxford, and grew up with her 6 siblings.

Sadie eventually moved to BC where she continued her teaching career at the St. Anthony's Catholic Elementary School in Kitimat in the late 1970's. She then met Joe, who had 5 children of his own, which only fueled the love that Sadie had for Joe. They married and together had a bouncing bundle of joy in 1987, Sarah.

Sadie had a huge impact on all the children she taught throughout her years as a teacher. Her family has received numerous compliments over the years about how her soul has touched many of whom she has taught.

Sadie will be deeply missed by her husband of 39 years, Jozsef Kotai; her daughter, Sarah Matos, her step-children Joe Kotai (Morgen), Allan Kotai (Catherine), Julie Kotai, James Kotai (Christina), and Jeremy Kotai (Molly).

Sadie had the honor of having many grandchildren whom she adored, Caitlin, Maya, Jacob, Lucas, Annah, Erik, Josie, Cassie, Aiden, Cohen, Jordan, Emeli, and Alice. Sadie will also be dearly missed by her siblings Raymond Oxford, Mike Oxford, and Joyce Major.

Sadie was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Grace Oxford, and parents-in-law, Jozsef and Anna Kotai, and siblings Rose Temple, John Oxford, and Dorothy Arenburg.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the staff and volunteers at Mountainview Lodge at the Kitimat General Hospital for their exceptional care and love for Sadie.

Family and friends may visit Mackay's Funeral Home in Terrace BC at 4626 Davis Avenue for an intimate viewing of Sadie on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 1:30pm. A memorial will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Luso Community Hall in Kitimat BC at Konigus Street at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Centre for Huntington's Disease Donation Fund at University of British Columbia: The University of British Columbia or to the Huntington's Society of Canada: Donate Now | Huntington Society of Canada.
