In Loving Memory ~
Sadly announcing the passing of Olaf Westphal. A loving husband, beloved father, brother and grandfather.
Born November 1952 in Hamburg Germany and passed away January 18th 2022 in Nanaimo, BC. Olaf came from humble beginnings, immigrating to Canada as a child and settling in Central BC.
In 1977 he met and married the 'love of his life' Ella Mae Ward. He is survived by his wife Ella Mae Westphal, children Alisa Berntsen (Tyler) grandsons Eli and Finn, Ashley Westphal-Butt (Brandon) grandsons Ryley and Jake, and Jamie Westphal.
He leaves one sister, Eva Lowe (John), nieces Madeline and Miranda.
He spent 35 yrs working for RIO Tinto/Alcan. Working alongside colleagues who became his second family.
After courageous battle with illness the last years it's bittersweet having to announce your passing knowing you can now rest easy. Forever putting others before himself.
A man of humility & humbleness you led by example & will forever be missed by those who loved you.
