Mike Atamanchuk

September 2, 2007

In Loving Memory

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mike Atamanchuk on September 2, 2007 at Kitimat General Hospital due to declining health.

Born January 30, 1926, Mike was a resident of Kitimat for 47 years and was retired from Alcan for 17 of those years.

A loving husband and father, Mike is survived by Jean, his wife of 52 years and four children, Joe of Smithers, BC, Richard and Lori (James, Kelly, Emily and Madelyn) of Kelowna, BC, Debbie and Gord (Donovan and Catrina) Boutette of Edmonton, AB, and Sherry and Alfredo (Alexandra, Lucas, Marcus and Adriana) Galamini of Kitimat, BC. Mike is also survived by one brother, Victor of Edmonton, AB and many nieces and nephews throughout BC and Alberta.

It was Mike’s final wish that he be interred at the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Iron River, AB near the original family homestead they established on their arrival from Ukraine.

A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, ladies in the physio department and staff at Kitimat General Hospital for the excellent care and attention they provided over the years. Also, thanks to Susan, Jim and Marianne for their love and compassion.

A memorial will be held for Mike in Kitimat at a future date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Kitimat General Hospital Multi-Level Care.

“Loved by all who knew him well.”
