November 24, 1928 - January 8, 2021
It is with great sadness that the family of Marion Stohl announce her passing on January 8, 2021 at the age of 92.
She will be dearly missed by Arnold, her husband of over 71 years; her sons, Wayne and Raymond (Jill); her grandchildren, Brandy (Mark), Carly, Erik (Dani), Kale (Pauline) and Robyn; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. As well as her sister Alice, brothers Dick (Laurie) and Burt, many nieces and nephews and so many more she considered "her family".
She is predeceased by her parents Eugenie and William Burton Dougan. Her siblings, Fred, Gerry, Tony, Kathleen and Donald. Her son, Glen and daughter, Sandra.
Marion was born in Marcelin, Saskatchewn on November 24, 1928. She spent most of her young life there, eventually the family moved to Saskatoon, where she met the love of her life, Arnold.
In 1949, they married and started their journey together. They relocated to northern BC in 1957 and over the next sixty years they alternated living in either Kitimat or Prince Rupert.
Marion was a longtime member of Eastern Star. She worked at O.B. Allan Jewellers for several years in Prince Rupert, and later , along with Arnold managed the Sandpiper Apartments in Kitimat and the Inn on the Harbour in Prince Rupert. Many will remember her generosity, her open-door policy, and that there was always enough food to set an extra plate or two at the dinner table if needed.
In 1994, Marion and Arnold finally settled in Kitimat for a well-earned retirement, enjoying their time with family and friends. In 2019 they moved to Campbell River to be closer to their son.
Marion was a wonderful, kind-hearted soul, who's home was always open to everyone. She was "Grama" to many, always ready to listen and never judged. She was a beautiful woman, that worked hard, and loved "her family" even harder. She will be remembered warmly by all those that loved her. Forever in our hearts.
