Maria Natalia Oliveira

December 15, 1944 to July 12, 2016


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife and grandmother, Maria Natalia Oliveira, on July 12, 2016, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

Natalia was born in Santo Antonio, Soa Miguel, Azores to Abel Cabral Da Costa and Belmira Paulina on December 15, 1944. In 1970, she immigrated to Kitimat BC and married Joao Duarte Oliveira. Natalia was a very proud stay-at-home mother who devoted her life to her faith and to her family. She had a profound love for all her grandchildren. Through their lives, her spirit will continue to live. Natalia enjoyed life to the fullest. She will always be remembered for her constant smile, contagious laughter and beautiful singing.

Natalia is preceded in death by her parents, Abel Da Costa and Belmira Paulina.

She is survived by her loving husband Joao Duarte; her children Natalie (Jason), Donny (Karen), Debbie (Phillip) and Anita (Jason); her much loved and cherished grandchildren Rylan, Quinn and Zoey; her nine brothers and sisters; and countless nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Natalia’s love will never be forgotten and

she will be forever in our hearts.

The family would like to to thank Dr. L. Huang, Dr. S. Kay, Dr. Schalkwyk, Dr. P. Hoskins, Paul Sherman, the nursing staff at Kitimat General Hospital, the oncology departments at Kitimat General Hospital and at Mills Memorial Hospital and The BC Cancer Agency.
