It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Lourdes Borges.
Maria was born in Furnas, Sao Miguel Azores and immigrated to Canada in 1963. She made Kitimat BC her home for the last 55 years.
She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband Luis Bento and their four children; Luis (Rose), Paula (Mark), Debbie (Norm), Lucy (Al). Forever cherished and dearly loved by her grandchildren; Robert, Brandon, Shelby, Cassandra, Desiree, Shaman, Brett and Dylan. Great-grandchildren; Lucas, Kaidence, Connor and predeceased by Adrian.
Maria was a role-model like no other. Known for being a hard working, energetic person with a friendly respect for all who knew her. The church, community and family all played important parts of her life. Maria suffered with Parkinson's Disease for the last 18 years. Although her illness made her weak, she fought with unwavering strength, positivity and courage.
Maria entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 18th 2021 at Mountainview Lodge in Kitimat, BC. Funeral mass at Christ the King Parish in Kitimat BC on January 22nd 2021 at 1pm.
The family would like to thank all care-aids and nurses at Mountainview Lodge and Delta King Place staff who provided great care of our mother in her final years. Thank you to MacKay's Funeral Services and Christ the King Parish for their assistance at this difficult time. Also, we thank family and friends who have offered condolences and support. Your kindness will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Disease Canada foundation.
