It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother and Avo Maria on December 18, 2020.
Maria Jose was born in Cabeca Alta, Caldas da Rainha, Portugal on November 11, 1937. She was predeceased by her husband Antonio Pires and other family members. We are comforted to know that she is now in God's garden.
Maria was a sweet, generous, caring, hardworking person who was loved by all who met her - including animals. She was an amazing cook and loved to be around family and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Lim, Dr. Sohi, and Dr. Kenyon who were kind, compassionate, and thorough in caring for our mother. As well, we thank the nurses of Kitimat General Hospital and Terrace Mills Memorial Hospital.
Memorial donations can be made to the Kitimat Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
