Maria Amalia Da Conceicao was born in Fazenda do Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Acores Portugal. In 1945 she married Oliverio Resendes; they had two children, a son Dinis in 1948 and a daughter Maria Natalia in 1949.
In 1969 she immigrated to Canada to be reunited with her husband and son in Kitimat, BC. Her husband passed away suddenly in 1975. She moved in with her son Dinis where she lived until her death. She devoted her life to nurturing and helping her family, friends and neighbours. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, and taking care of her homes on Partridge Street and in Portugal.
Maria is survived by her children Dinis (Felismina) Resendes, Maria Natalia (Ernesto) Carreiro; grandchildren Carlos (Tammi) Carreiro, Mario (Michelle) Carreiro, Paula (Tony) Almeida, Elvis Resendes, Alex Resendes, Sonia Resendes (Alec); great grandchildren Matthew Carreiro, Mikaela Carreiro, Lucas Carreiro, Cole Carreiro, Caleb Carreiro, Chantel Almeida, Justin Carreiro, and Ashton Almeida.
Our family would like to express our appreciation to family, friends and all those who have supported us through prayer, and thoughtful deeds. We would like to convey a special thanks to the Ambulance Service, RCMP, Dr. Wes, Nursing staff, Father Kenneth and the Bereavment Committee in their support and in helping us through this
most difficult time.
