It is with sadness that we share the passing of our Mother.
Margarida peacefully passed away after a short illness at the age of 99 at the Kitimat General Hospital on Thursday September 26th with family by her side.
Born on July 21, 1925 on the Island of Terceira, Azores, our mother emigrated to Canada on March 1955 to join her beloved husband Sebastiao. She later arrived in Kitimat on December 31, 1955 where she made this community her home.
Mom was a homemaker at 5 Brant Street, who as time goes by raised 4 children.
Senhora Margarida as she was called, was the go to Lady for mostly the Portuguese community, including piercing the ears of the new born babies, which many years later included her eldest granddaughter, Melissa.
Mom had a sense of humour and liked to tell a joke or two and made the best chocolate chip cookies and pancakes for her children, grandchildren and their friends.
Margarida was predeceased by her husband Sebastiao in 2019, son-in-law Joao in 2020 and her son that she adored Sebastian (Sab) in 2024.
Mom is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter Margaret sons Doug (Lissa) and Len (Val); grandchildren Melissa, Amanda, Savannah, Lou, Delaney, Justin, Nathan and Danielle and great-grandchildren Isla, Sophie, Fabrizio and Massimo.
Her sister Teresa, sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Maria Olivia (Joao), Florinda (Jose) and many nieces and nephews.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Huang, Dr. Kay, the staff of Terrace Mills Memorial and Kitimat General Hospital for their outstanding care and support. Home care, who's visits were always appreciated by mom, as a social event, THANK YOU.
