March 8, 1959 - December 6, 2024
In loving memory ~
With profound love and immense sadness, we said goodbye to our beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle, son and son-in-law, on the afternoon of December 6, 2024. Louis had a double lung transplant on June 23, 2024 and was plagued with complications from the start. He fought valiantly for 5 . months before finding rest.
Louis was born in Kitimat, BC on March 8, 1959 to parents Anka & Slavko Hales, the only boy with 3 sisters he adored. In the early 80's he moved with his family to Langley and met wife Lisa in 1984. They were married 5 years later and son Matthew and daughter Ellie were born in the early 90's. Lisa & Louis and children spent a couple of years in Kitimat when the children were very young and settled in Kelowna in 1998.
Louis was a builder through and through and worked on many projects and supervised many builds at Gallgaher's Canyon. He was an AVID fly fisherman and he and Lisa made yearly treks to Kitimat for coho fishing with numerous close friends.
Many days were spent camping with friends in their fifth wheel trailer during the years throughout BC with annual spring fishing trips to Quesnel with the Turners and Smiths, summers in the Kootenays and on Vancouver Island. He was a loyal friend and will be missed terribly by all who knew and loved him.
When his lung disease made physical activity a chore, Louis cooked some great dinners and turned to seriously re-learning guitar, becoming very accomplished on his electric and acoustic instruments and serenading Lisa to sleep on many nights.
He loved his veggie gardens in the backyard which produced an over abundance of tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers and many other varieties.
Louis is survived by is loving wife, Lisa, children, Matthew and Ellie, mother, Anka, sisters, Angela, Davorka and Anne, father-in-law, Dudley Booth, uncle Miro and numerous nieces and nephews.
No service is planned for Louis.
