In Loving Memory of Louis Adrien Thomas

December 1, 1926 - March 18, 2007

On March 18, 2007, after a lengthy illness, Louis Thomas passed away peacefully in the Kitimat General Hospital surrounded by family.

Louis had always been a fighter and survivor who had a great zest for life, but his respiratory illness was no match after fighting it for over six years.

Louis was born in Cotes d’Armor, Brittany, France and served in the French army in North Africa before immigrating to Canada in 1954 in search of a better life. He was employed by Alcan and married Jacqueline in 1956 where they created a warm and loving home for the family that was to come.

He held several positions at Alcan but when he retired in 1986 he ended his career as a welding inspector. He was a hard worker who was very meticulous, but always got the job done the way it was intended. Louis was both respectful to all and well respected not only by his co-workers, but everyone who knew him.

Louis was predeceased by his parents and two sisters in France.

Louis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline and sons Christian (Wanda) and Michel; his grandchildren Jessica, Sara, Cassidy, Cameron and Nicole. His many friends will miss his smiling face and zest for life when meeting with Louis who was always ready to partake in a friendly conversation and share his great wealth of knowledge for those who made the time to listen.

He will be fondly remembered not only by his two brothers Michel and Lucien and their families in France but family members in Canada, as well as the many friends he made during his life. Memories of his kindness, warmth and strong inner strength will always live on in the minds and hearts of all those who knew him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cooper, Dr. van der Westhuyzen, Dr. Champion of Vancouver and all the nursing staff at the Kitimat General Hospital for the loving care they provided over the years, but especially in making his last days more comfortable. Our heartfelt thanks also go out to Father Pier, the Eucharistic and bereavement committees from Christ the King Church and all those who supported us through their time and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made

in memory of Louis to the BC Lung Association.
