In Loving Memory ~
Lloyd Striker, a long-time resident of Kitimat BC, passed away peacefully at Mountainview Lodge on May 9, 2022 at the age of 84.
Lloyd is survived by his children Dan (Shelly) and Marie; his grandchildren Megan, William, Lisa, Nolan and Iris; his brothers Clarence (Amy), Ted (Lorna), and sister Valdeane (Ken). He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Vera; brothers Gwellyn and Stan (Jean).
Lloyd was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan and quite often could be heard repeating the saying "New York is big, but Biggar is Biggar'. His family moved to Agassiz when he was the age of ten. He grew up there and met his wife Marilyn Crawford where they moved to Dawson Creek and eventually to Kitimat in July of 1962. Lloyd worked at Alcan for 33 years with most of his time spent in pot-lining and eventually taking a staff position as a job planner his last few years. Once Lloyd retired he met his long-time companion Mary McCarthy where they enjoyed camping and travelling.
Lloyd loved his house and could always be found working in the yard or completing renovations on the home. He had a strong passion for cars and would quite often change vehicles quickly as he became bored with his recent purchases. While in Kitimat he became involved in the old KYSA softball league, coached in Kitimat minor hockey, umpired minor softball, volunteered with the Kitimat Elks and Kitimat Gyro Club, and donated time to the Kitimat Senior Center. As well, he had a blast with Oldtimers Hockey league and the Oldies But Goodies slow pitch team.
A celebration of life is yet to be determined.
