In Loving Memory of Lionello (Leo) Chioccarello
April 17, 1923 - November 7, 2011
We regret to announce the passing of Lionello (Leo) Chioccarello on Monday, November 7. He passed away peacefully with his daughter Rossella at his side.
His strength, resiliency, kindness and zest for life made him a joy to know. He will be cherished by all who knew him.
Leo was born in Venice, Italy and moved to Canada in the fall of 1954. In 1956 he began working at Alcan in Kitimat, BC. His wife and two young daughters joined him shortly thereafter. After working at Alcan for 15 years he began working for a construction company. He ended his working career at Eurocan, retiring in 1988 after 10 years of service.
Leo was predeceased by his wife Ida and his brother Luigi. He is survived by his loving children Rossella (Per), Betty (Ted), and Luciano (Angela); his sisters Maria Luisa (Tino) and Teresa (Dario); his brother Gian-Antonio; his grandchildren David (Tonina), Anita, Sylvia (Todd), Christopher and Gregory; and his great-grandchildren Jacob, Sophia and Lucas.
Our family wishes to thank the nurses and aides at Mountain View Lodge for their kindness and care, Doctors Kay and Skully, and everyone who assisted in his care throughout the last few years. As well, we wish to thank Father Kenneth, Suzanna, and the Bereavement Ministry for their compassion and guidance. We are also grateful to friends, family, and hospice members for their generous support during this difficult time.
Loving father, nonno, great-grandfather and friend,
he will forever be remembered in our hearts and greatly missed.
