Leslie was born September 30, 1923 in Stood, England, one of twelve children born to John and Ellen Philpot, he attended school and finished his education in England.
After the war he moved and worked in Burmuda then returned to England where he met and married Gloria, his wife of 59 years.
Leaving England, landing in New York, USA, onward to Vancouver, BC, Leslie and Gloria settled in Kitimat, BC.
Pioneers to Kitimat, Leslie and Gloria raised three children and Leslie worked at Alcan as foreman until his retirement.
He was an active leader in Boy Scouts of Canada, enjoyed fishing, camping at the lakes with his family, cooking, music, driving and his outdoor adventures.
He will be remembered for his unique humour, charm and being a ‘true gentleman’.
When laughter is felt upon the breeze,
We will know that it is you.
We know the song that is sung in our hearts, the song sung by you.
Eyes shining bright, you are the story of honour,
The mind of knowledge, the gift of the hand held out to others.
Whispers upon our dreams, we will hear you.
Light upon shadow, we will know you.
Your smile in our thoughts, we will see you.
May we be binded by love, together in joy.
Free upon the wave of life.
Forever and always ~ blessed is your life, great man.
Sleep now, as you are so vividly alive.
Donations to the A.L.S. Society are greatly appreciated.
The Philpot and Zaharchuk family would like to extend sincere thanks to Frank and Nelly Reiter, neighbours, family and friends, Dr. Huang, and the nursing staff at Kitimat General Hospital.
