Leona Maria Sevigny

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, who passed away May 4, 2008 at Kitimat General Hospital.
Leona will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her four children Richard (Eileen), Glen (Janice), Colleen (Gerry) and Gail (Michael); her grandchildren Jerod (Sherene), Lauren (John); Alisha (Aaron), Ashley, Angela and Aaron; Gaylene (Hayden), Rochelle and Melinda; Curtis and Elyse; sister Armella, brothers Clarence (Vivian), Raymond (Audrey) and Orland (Laurel); and numerous nieces and nephews and families.
Leona was predeceased by husband Larry; parents Charles and Rose; sisters Elizabeth and Ann; brothers Francis and Leonard; dearest friend Elsie Egan.
Born July 29, 1926 in Cudworth, SK, to Charles and Rose Kurtenbach, she grew up in the middle of her eight siblings on the family farm. Leona moved to Saskatoon to be a hairdresser and there she met Larry, her handsome fireman. Soon after they had three children, Rick, Glen and Colleen and in 1957, Larry (and half his firefighting crew) moved to Kitimat to join Alcan. Gail, their fourth child was born there. Leona loved her family immensely and was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She has two great grandchildren on the way and we know she’ll watch over them from heaven.
Leona will also be missed by her card playing family, her church, the Catholic Women’s League and her many wonderful friends.
A special thank you to Father Pierre, Sherry, the CWL, family and friends who helped us celebrate Mom’s life. Many thanks to her doctors, nurses and staff of KGH, the staff at Shoppers Drugmart and Mackays funeral home. We truly appreciate the cards of sympathy, the meals, fruit baskets, flowers, support and love from all our special friends.
