Our mother, Leona died on February 23rd in Vancouver. She was born into an unconventional family created by her Sikh father & New Brunswick born mother. Her pride of heritage is passed on to the generations that follow.
After marrying Roderick in 1948, they embarked on a great adventure - leaving Vancouver for Kitimat in 1954 - with a young family that eventually grew to 6 children. Busy, focused, creative, independent and curious, Leona's diverse interests grew well beyond her family.
She always volunteered in her community and once the children were launched, Leona trained as an archivist and worked at the Kitimat Museum where her appreciation of botany, indigenous culture, history and art found expression.
Her great love of family was often celebrated with a fabulous meal.
She will be missed by her children, Linda (Bob) Chartier, Mark (Judy) Littler, Lori (Ray) Thornber, David Littler, Jan Littler-Finseth, and Kim Littler (Dean Reynolds), as well as 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A family celebration of her life will be held later this year.
