September 5, 1921 to February 22, 2014
Karolina was born in Slovenia in 1921.
After studying in the retail business, she served in the war. In 1946 Karolina met Milan and after they were married they searched for a new life which they found in Canada. Milan arrived first with Karolina and the children following him in 1957. Once in Kitimat she broke through early feelings of homesickness by immersing herself in family and tending to her beloved flower and vegetable gardens.
After Milan’s retirement, the next 28 plus years Karolina and Milan lived their dream in their beautiful retirement home in Burton, BC. She worked diligently and with determination, enjoying each step of a task as evidence of her love for God. Her beloved friends at church and Sunday worship gave her added strength in life.
Gardening was her passion and nourishment; her love, cooking and baking was ours. Karolina was easy to befriend and loved to share the seed and fruit of her’s and Milan’s combined labour until her late 80s.
She passed away peacefully at Minto House with husband Milan, family and granddaughter Nicole by her side.
