1937-2023 ~ It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our Dad, John Bernard Whelan, known to family and friends as "Mac Whelan". Dad passed away peacefully at Kitimat General Hospital on August 24, 2023. He was 86 years old.
We find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beautiful wife, Terry, and his youngest son, Jimmy.
He is survived by his other children, Mike Whelan (Jackie), Cathy Unwin (Bruce), Bernie Whelan (Kim), Danny Whelan (Beth), Patsy Boisvert, and by 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Dr. McLeod, Dr. Mills, Dr. Geller, and the amazing nurses and staff at KGH for the outstanding care you provided Dad, for making him laugh, and for making his last days and his passing as comfortable and peaceful as possible, and to the staff at Delta King Place for the exceptional care and attention you gave Dad during his residency there.
In keeping with Dad's wishes, there will be no services.
