September 27, 1923 - July 2, 2011

Joan was born September 27, 1923 in Birmingham, England. She met Lewis Plewman and they were married in 1944. Mom was a war bride coming to Canada via the Canadian Army. They first lived in Lulu Island where two daughters were born, Veronica and Brenda.

Our family moved to Kemano, and then to Kitimat in 1953. Mom enjoyed her years in Kitimat with good friends, playing bridge on Saturday nights and working at the school board office. A move to Burnaby brought together old friends, and new ones were made.

Lew passed away suddenly in 1984. Shortly after Joan moved to Vernon to be close to her only grandchild, Joe. She travelled and continued to play bridge for many years. She enjoyed theatre and reading.

Joan is survived by Veronica Plewman and Juergen Baumann of Mission, BC; Brenda Enevoldson and Joe Zucchiatti of Terrace BC; and Joe Enevoldson of Calgary, AB.

At her request, there was no service but family held a Celebration of Life at Joan’s last residence, Cantebury Court on July 9, 2011. We would like to express our very sincere appreciation to Trudy Hegler, a great friend; Dr. Williams, who was always there; Home Nurses (especially Dawn); Home Support Workers; Hospice House Staff - Jan, Barbara, Chris, Tamara, Chad and Kurt (wonderful, caring people); and to Dr. Splawinski - thank you for giving her mobility for her last years.

In lieu of flowers, please kindly donate to the Northern Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, BC V1T 1S4.
