In Loving Memory ~

With loving memories and heavy hearts, we share the passing of Joan McKeown. Joan passed away at home following a long courageous battle with cancer.

Joan will be dearly missed by Richard, her loving husband of 61 years, daughter Monica Craft (Darryl), Kerry Teves (Tony) and Laura McKeown, her beloved grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda, Jordan and Kaitlyn, and great grandson Kaiden.

Joan was predeceased by her father John, Mother Marjorie and brother Alan Whitwell.

Joan was born in Victoria BC, where she enjoyed an adventurous childhood on Gonzales Bay. She moved to Kitimat after completing her RN training where she met and married Richard, together they raised their 3 girls while being surrounded by wonderful friends. Joan loved working as a nurse, providing excellent care and leadership at the hospital for over 30 years.

In retirement Joan and Dick returned to Victoria where they looked forward to hosting family & friends. Together, they enjoyed travelling, exploring cultures, history and food always returning with interesting stories and great memories.

Joan was a loving, caring and thoughtful mom, grandma and great grandma. She shared her big heart, big hugs, sense of humour, love of food, enjoyment of reading and learning with everyone.

She will be remembered for her strong will, sense of adventure and being the first call when you need medical advice, for allowing birthday cake for breakfast and her love of chocolate. Joan's zest for life was contagious and will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

In following Joan's wishes, there will be no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to BC Cancer - Victoria.
