Jean Veronica Hartnell passed away peacefully on September 24, 2022 at Kitimat General Hospital. Upon her request there will be no funeral, her ashes will be placed at the Kitimat mausoleum beside her husband.
Jean was born in Scotland on July 20, 1922, to Mary and Jim Dunlop. She moved to Canada when she was two years old, Jean spent her early childhood in Powell River and served in the military from 1942 to 1944, Canadian Women Army Corps, signal section.
She married Norman Douglas Hartnell on May 17, 1945 and were blessed with three children, who were all raised in Kitimat. Jean served as a member of the Kitimat Hospital Board and was a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by her two sons, Dan (Adriana) and Norman Alexander, her brother Jimmy, grandchildren Sean and Kelly, great grandchild Katie and great great grand daughter Adelaide as well as her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, her daughter Gail and grandson Norman Frederick.
