After nearly 6 years apart, Jan Schrier was able to re-acquaint with his wife of over 60 years, Vicky, on March 23rd, 2022; At the age of 95, Jan passed away in Kitimat, BC. Jan was born on Feb 3, 1927 in Waarde, Netherlands to Jan Schrier and Jacomina Overbeeke and lived there through 1954 together with his sister Leny. He then immigrated to Canada in search of work and found his new home in Kitimat BC working for Alcan. Through a pen-pal he found his forever love in Vicky who joined him in Kitimat BC in 1956.
Jan spent his days telling (sometimes inappropriate) stories and jokes, gardening, saving stamps from the numerous letters he received from Europe, keeping extensive records of the days and traveling abroad.
Jan is survived by his three sons, Ed (Gina), Erroll (Amanda) and Dan, his grandchildren Jennifer (Aaron), Kyla (Paddy), Nicole (Mike), Dane and Drae and his great-grandchildren Eliana, Audrey, Zachary and Lincoln.
A small memorial was held by Jan's family on March 27th to celebrate his life and continue telling his stories and jokes.
