Jack Walter Ashdown Green


Jack Walter Ashdown Green was born in Victoria B.C. August 12, 1918, the son of Ashdown T. Green and Gladys (Dumbleton) Green. He was educated in Victoria and attended Victoria College (Craigdarroch) 1935-1937 after three short time jobs he enlisted in the RCAF in 1941. He served in Canada and England until 1946 when he was discharged as a Sergeant (accounts). In 1943 he had married Shirley Adela Bastin (also RCAF) who was his wife for over sixty-two years until her death March 8, 2006.

Jack obtained his diploma as a Chartered Accountant in 1952 and worked in Victoria, Salt Spring Island and Kitimat BC. In 1967 he changed to the Health Care Field obtaining his Diploma in Hospital Organization and Management in 1971. He retired as Administrator of Kitimat General Hospital in 1982. Retirement years for Jack and Shirley were spent in Duncan, B.C.

Jack is survived by sons Peter G.A. Green (Audrey) and Derek A. Green, daughter Gillian A. Green and grandson Colin A. Grice.

Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 7921 St. Stephen Road, Saanichton, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada.
