It is with saddened hearts that we share the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Irene Erna Thiele on Wednesday, December 19 in her 83rd year. She passed away peacefully at the Mountainview Lodge in Kitimat, B.C.
Born June 9, 1935 in Wilkowischken, Lithuania, her family migrated to Germany during WWII. She was the first in her immediate family to immigrate to Canada in 1954, sponsoring her siblings, parents and grandparents, setting the
path to be the matriarch of a large extended family. She married Heinz (Henry) Werner Thiele (Predeceased, Nov 1, 2007) in Edmonton in 1955. They moved to Kitimat in 1956, where they embedded themselves in the wellbeing of the community, surrounded by a loving village of family and friends, where they lived the rest of their lives.
Irene is survived by her daughter Rosemary Zielinski (Mark), and their children, Stephanie and Andrew, and her son Ron Thiele (Rene), and their daughters Sarah and Piper, and her great grandsons of Andrew Zielinski; Azariah, Aurelius and Atticus. She is also survived by her brother John (Hilda) Hoyer, and sister, Ruth Schaefer.
Funeral Services will be held at the Redeemer Lutheran Church (1474 Nalabila Blvd, Kitimat, BC V8C 1E5) on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Small reception to follow in the church foyer. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Kitimat General Hospital Foundation (www.kghf.ca).
