Ina Marie Starr Goble (nee Hill)

passed away at Kitimat General Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2008. Ina maintained her cheerful disposition through her short but difficult struggle with cancer. One of her great comforts was being able to return to family and friends in Kitimat for the last weeks of her life.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 1986 and is survived by her children: Gene of Alberta, Kirby of Kitimat, and Kim (Andrew) Howes of Kitimat. Dear to Ina’s heart were her grandchildren Dana (Raymond) of Stony Plain, AB and Kassy and Dyllan Howes in Kitimat. Her sister Lonna (Sandy) Davidson passed away in Cromarty, Scotland in 2005. Ina has three surviving brothers Tom (Joan), Edmonton, AB; Stephen (Eileen) Hill, Sicamous, BC; and Lawrence (Linda), Stony Plain, AB.

Ina grew up in Wildwood, AB and lived for several years in Edmonton before moving to Kitimat. With John working at the Alcan plant, Ina also secured employment there. After a short time at Alcan she gained a position at Kitimat General Hospital where she successfully completed several challenging courses and continued her employment through to retirement in 2006.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec 20 at 2 pm at Kitimat First United Church, 1180 Kingfisher Ave.

Her ashes will be interred with her husband John’s at the Kitimat cemetery.

The family are grateful for the love shown Ina by her many friends in the community. Special thanks to the staff at Kitimat General Hospital who were exceptionally kind during her last period of hospitalization.
