In Loving Memory ~

It is with sadness that we announce Heidi's passing following the recent passing of her husband, Wilf and daughter, Wendy.

Heidi was born in Meiningen, Germany, the second of four girls. In 1947 her family escaped from East to West Germany. When she was 15, they immigrated to Canada, living first in Winnipeg and settling in Kitimat.

In 1957 she married Wilfried Oeste and they had four children. After Wilf retired in 1993, they moved to Crofton to enjoy the ocean, followed by a 2001 move to Abbotsford to be near family.

Heidi's life was characterized by her remarkable passion for the Lord, serving others, and experiencing the most out of life. She was a wonderful cook and made beautifully decorated cakes. She loved everything to do with crafts, often selling her work at fairs.

Music was also a great love of hers, singing in church choirs, playing the autoharp, attending concerts, and writing and recording her own songs.

She practised foot-reflexology and wrote multiple books. An active leader in her church, she led many children and women's ministries in Kitimat including Midweek Alive.

She also made it her mission to reach out to people in her life and church by hosting and lending a listening ear and giving generously of her time and resources to help others in need.

She always had a friendly smile for everyone, even when she no longer recognized us. She will be missed by her sister Angela (Russel Walsh); her remaining children: Sonja (Henry) Zukowski, Verena (Jim) Hepting, Elby Oeste; her eight grandchildren; and her extended family.

We would like to thank Menno Place for their compassionate care of both Wilf and Heidi Oeste during their final years.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Abbotsford in late spring.
