September 16, 1958 - May 25, 2021
On May 25, 2021, after a lengthy and hard fought battle with cancer, Heather Rothney of Lennoxville, Quebec ended the journey she began in 2018 when first diagnosed with fourth stage cancer. Heather passed away peacefully with family by her side at Maison Aube Lumiere in Sherbrooke, Quebec.
Predeceased by her parents, Bruce and Marion Rothney, and brother Ken Rothney, she leaves to mourn her two sons, Gregory and Christopher of Inverness, Quebec, her siblings Rick of Vancouver,B.C., Melanie of Kitimat, B.C., Karen of Vancouver, B.C., and Trudy of Victoria, B.C.
She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, cousins, and aunts and uncles in B.C. and Quebec.
Heather came to Kitimat from Sherbrooke, Quebec in 1973 where she graduated from Mount Elizabeth Secondary School and returned to Quebec. She married Jim Wright of Inverness, Quebec and raised her two boys on a farm there.
After her sons both graduated, she longed to follow in her mom's footsteps to become a teacher. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2007 from Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec and then secured a position teaching English at Bishop's College.
She then pursued her Master's Degree and graduated in 2018 - shortly prior to getting diagnosed with cancer.
A memorial service was held on May 29, 2021 in Sherbrooke, Quebec and she was laid to rest alongside her mom and other family members on May 30, 2021 at Christ Church Cemetery in Lower Ireland, Quebec.
