Gerhard “Gary” Habinger

February 7, 1947 – January 14, 2020
Sometimes in the early hours of the morning, the Angels came to escort Gary to be reunited with his loving parents, Adolf and Margarethe.
Gary was born in Austria and came to a young Kitimat with his parents when he was 6 years old. As Kitimat grew so did Gary. He developed a love for the river and could be found on it fishing even when he should have been in school.
In school, Gary found his passion for curling that stayed with him even into his retirement years. Between his curling, fishing and sheep hunting in the mountains he had a life well lived and had many a tale to tell of his adventures.
As a young man Gary started his work career working at Alcan in the lines. He moved into Security then finished as a supervisor in First Aid. With early retirement and life in the Shuswap he had time to perfect his gardening skills. He had a yard and gardens that many people would stop and admire.
Gary was a caring and devoted husband to his wife of 45 years Sharon, a loving father to his daughter Lorissa Dawn {Brad Riley} and a special GG to his granddaughters, Clair and Morgan. He also leaves to mourn his many curling, fishing and hunting buddies plus his wonderful Sorrento neighbors and his many Kitimat friends.
At his request there will be no service but the family would like to have a celebration of life in the Spring in Kitimat.
“See you on the other side”
Gary’s favorite quote “I rest my case”
