In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gary George McCamon. Gary, aka 'Dad' and 'Papa G', passed away with his loving wife Sharon by his side at the age of 77, in Victoria, BC.
Gary was a devoted husband, loving father, friend and papa. He spent the last part of his years playing games, handing out dog treats, chatting to neighbours sharing new Dad jokes, and thrifty finds with his daughters. Gary enjoyed a simple life; he always appreciated his wife's good cooking, he whistled to music, and he couldn't wait to talk about the next new thing he discovered. Gary was child-like on the inside, filled with humor, love, and adoration.
Gary retired in 2000 after 30+ years of working at Alcan (Rio-Tinto). Soon after retirement he and his wife moved to Salmon Arm, BC, and eventually they settled into a retirement community in Victoria, BC.
Gary is survived by his wife, Sharon Lindsay; son Jamis (Corrine); daughters Stacey (Sean), and Sara (Chris); grand-children Evelyn, Sam, and Dylan; extended family, friends, and his dog, Leo. Gary is predeceased by his son Michael, and by his parents Orm and Alice.
Gary often had a new joke each time you came to visit, his final joke was:
"Did you hear about the guy who evaporated?"
"He was mist"
We will mist you very much Gary, Dad, Papa G.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the New Year in Victoria, BC.
