Portugal has passed away while living contently in the Oak Bay Lodge here in Victoria. She was 91 years old.
She will be greatly missed by her entire family (her 'raÃÂzes' as she called us) and leaves behind 2 children, 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She will also be missed by the many friends and staff of the places she resided while in here in Victoria: The Victorian at McKenzie and the Oak Bay Lodge (both 2nd and 3rd Maple units).
The family would also like to express our gratitude for the staff at the Oak Bay Lodge that helped make mom's residency there a genuine pleasure and provided her a sense of security with regards to her needs and care while she was there.
Her final instructions were to not have a service or memorial established for her; but we did notify and wish to recognize the comfort that her experiences with The Salvation Army Victoria Citadel Pastoral team provided her when she was able to attend their regular Sunday services.
