October 10, 1943 - April 11, 2020
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Eva Kukulies (nee Puskas) on April 11th, 2020 at Kitimat General Hospital.
Predeceased by her parents and her daughter, Janet Lee Kukulies, she leaves behind her daughter, Eva Almeida, son-in-law Nelson Almeida, grandchildren Emily, Nick, and Unity as well as many relatives back in Hungary.
Eva emigrated to Vancouver, B.C. from Hungary in 1966. She moved to Smithers in the 70's and was well known for her store, Smithers Bridal Salon, in which she had great pride in catering to the brides, grooms and grads until she moved back down to Vancouver to open up several clothing stores over the years. Eva retired to Kitimat in the early 2000's to be closer to family and to raise her grand-daughter, Unity. She taught all that knew her what true strength, love and resilience can achieve. Eva is dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming love and support that has been shown to us during this most difficult time. Thank you to all the medical staff who took care of Eva including Dr. Scott from Vancouver, Dr. Wahl and the rest of the staff at Kitimat General Hospital, kidney dialysis nurses at Mills Memorial Hospital and Prince George Hospital in addition to Christ the King Church and MacKay's Funeral Service.
Due to the pandemic, we are heartbroken that we are unable do a church service at this time but we will arrange for a celebration of her life as soon as it is safe to do so. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Kidney Foundation, or any charity of your choice in memory of Eva.
