In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Else Hofer.
Else was born in Berlin, Germany where she grew up with 4 sisters and 1 brother. It is here where she found her love of "lending a hand", becoming a nurse.
Mom found the love of her life, John, and made Kitimat her forever home in 1961. Continuing her helping ways, she worked as a public health nurse and volunteered her time to many organizations. Else was a member of the Kitimat Hospital Auxiliary for over 45 years. She worked in the gift shop, wandered the wards with the gift shop cart, tended the flowers and of course knitted slippers. She was selfless to a fault; always lending a hand to anyone who needed it.
Predeceased by John, Else is survived by daughters, Frances and Bettina (Jeff), and son, Oliver (Heather), five grandkids; Kevin, Erin, Evan, Jaedyn and Camryn, along with 2 sisters and 1 brother, and many nieces and nephews back in Germany.
Else was a loving and caring mother and friend to many. Her passing will leave a huge void for all that knew her. She can now rest easy and enjoy the company of John by her side again.
Else would not want any sorrow from her passing, please cherish all the good times and memories she brought to so many lives. Please carry on her legacy by volunteering for a cause important to you.
Rest in peace Mom.
The family thanks everyone for their kind thoughts and condolences. A special thanks to Sue Jay for her constant support and kindness through this difficult time.
There will be no service as per Else's wishes. A celebration of life is being planned with details to follow.
