Doug will be fondly remembered for his kind- hearted ways and would always go out of his way to help a friend in need. He loved to play all sports some of which included golf, curling, skiing, fastball and pool. He was also an avid reader, enjoyed watching hockey games and touring the province. His passion was being a member of the Kitimat Gyro Club where he was a member for 42 years. During this time he served as Club President in 1994 and recently served as Club Treasurer for over 10 years. He was also an Associate Royal Canadian Legion Member for several years and enjoyed chatting with his coffee buddies.
The family would like to thank Dr. Van Schalkwyk, ER Doctors and all the nurses at KGH for their caring attention and kindness.
Doug's quiet strength, sense of humour and enjoyment of simple pleasures in life will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. At his request, there will be no service.
He would be honoured by a donation to Kitimat Palliative Care, Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
