Donald Auton

March 19, 1924 - August 27 2009

Don leaves behind his wife Betty of 34 years; his sons Russell (Dale) and Ian (Mona); and grandsons David and Wesley.

Donald Auton was born in Durham, England on March 19, 1924 to Fred and Kate Auton. He also had a brother, Fred.

Don joined the navy in 1939 when he was 15 (he told them he was 18), and left the navy in 1954.

Not long after, he emmigrated to Ocean Falls, Canada where he worked at the paper mill until 1970, when he moved to Kitimat to work at Eurocan.

He made a few visits to Vancouver, BC where he met his wife Betty. They were married in New Westminster, BC in 1975, then Betty and Ian moved to Kitimat with him.

Don retired from Eurocan in 1985 and then worked as a Kitmat RCMP Jail Guard from November 1989 to November 1998.

Don was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Don will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
