June 22, 1928 - November 20, 2018
With great sadness, we say goodbye to Derek, a beloved Husband, Dad, and Grandfather.

Derek Annibal was born June 22, 1928 in Nottingham, England.

Derek served with the British Army with the Royal Electrical & Engineers and then attained his Electrical Engineering Degree in 1953. He married the love of his life, Gertrude Leese, in 1952 and then immigrated to Canada in 1966 with "Trudi" and three children. He became a proud Canadian Citizen in 1974.

Derek enjoyed sharing stories, singing, traveling, his log home and his time working for Power Operations at Alcan. Some may remember him for his love for family, the boy scouts, food and occasional drink, or his pipe, which he took up in the army so he could bring his cigarette rations home for his mom (Phyllis Bardell) and dad (Harold Annibal).

Derek was preceded by his sister Vera and his wife of 65 years, Trudi. He will be remembered by his children Michael & Hazel Annibal, Jane & Dave Stredulinsky and Mark & Colleen Annibal; Grandchildren; Melanie Leaman, Jeanne Atwal, Janine Walker, Coralee Annibal, Amanda Annibal, Colette Schibli and Devon Annibal and by his nieces, nephews, cousins and great grandchildren.

Special thanks to Dr. Harvir Dhillon and all the doctors and nurses who cared for him at the emergency ward and during his final days at Mills Memorial. The past few years would not have been the same without the absolute wonderful staff and residents at McConnell Estates, who became his extended family after the illness and eventual passing of Trudi.

As a family, he will remain in our memories, stories will be told, many laughs and tears will be shared with friends and grand/ great grandchildren until our dying days.

Derek passed peacefully at Mills Memorial Hospital November 20 2018.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mills Memorial Hospital or the Terrace Legion.
