March 21, 1944 - January 6, 2022
The family of David McRae sadly announce his passing on January 6, 2022 at Kitimat General Hospital. Dave was born on March 21, 1944 in Calgary, Alberta.
In 1958 he moved to Kitimat with his parents Les McRae and Lillian 'Polly' Moore and his siblings Ken (Thordis) and Gail.
In 1962 the family moved to Pr. Rupert but a couple years later Dave returned to Kitimat where he rejoined many friends. He married Lucy Tolhurst and they had 2 children Nicole (Todd Monge) and Dan.
He worked at Alcan in various areas but for the longest time as a welder in Crane Maintenance, he finished his 38 years in 226 in 2008.
His retirement years were spent camping, canoeing, hiking, escorting Clover all around town and lately bird watching. He took great pleasure visiting and enjoying every chance he could with his wee grandson Quinn and spending time with his family and in-laws and his many nieces and nephews.
Throughout his harrowing battle with cancer Dave was stoic and thought of his family and caregivers before himself as was his character. He at no time gave in to this disease but accepted the journey with love and kindness for all those who walked with him.
We would like to thank Dr. Howard Mills and all his caregivers at KGH. There will be a private get together with just family later in the year at Dave's request.
He would be honoured by a donation to a wildlife or nature protection charity of your choice.
