It is with great sadness that the family of David (Dave) Neil McNeil announce that he passed away in Edmonton on May 17, 2022.
Dave was born in Vancouver on May 16, 1939, the youngest child of Neil and Mabel McNeil. He studied biology at the University of British Columbia followed by a long career with Fisheries and Oceans Canada beginning in the 1960s at various locations in British Columbia.
In the 1970's he was located in Bella Coola. In 1980, he came to Kitimat to help oversee the building of the Kitimat River Salmon Hatchery and finished his career as the hatchery manager. Living in Kitimat for almost 40 years suited Dave as he loved the outdoors, enjoying fishing and hunting.
Dave was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Bill. He is survived by his two daughters Erin (Dustin) and Crystal (Kevin) and by his four granddaughters, Mable, June, Kaylee and Elora, all of Edmonton. He is also survived by his sister, Nola McIntyre of Victoria and by his long time companion, Dora De Silva.
