Cesira Malnis

June 26, 1928 – July 9, 2021
Cesira Malnis grew up in Sacile, Italy. She married Mario Malnis in 1952 and they had two children, Gerardo and Philip. Before Philip was born, Mario traveled to Canada to pursue a better life for his family. Cesira had to wait three years before she joined him, courageously travelling with her young sons halfway across the globe to settle in Kitimat, BC. There, she worked tirelessly, caring for her family and other men that came to Kitimat before their families could join them. We rarely heard her complain. Her house was always welcoming and there weren’t many dinners that didn’t have extra guests who had just dropped in. Her faith was strong and her love for the Lord spilled over into loving others. She was a model of unconditional love to all she met. Her family extended to more than just her husband and boys. She had an indominable spirit. She looked for the good in all her circumstances and in people. In her spare time Cesira loved to knit, garden, watch Jeopardy, and she was a long-time member of the Catholic Woman’s League and the Canadian Italian Club. She is survived by her sons Gerardo (Shirley), Philip (Janet), grandchildren Judy, Angelina, Amanda, Austin, Ian and great-grandchildren Holly, Sadie, Gia, Jayan, Luca and Cambria. Predeceased by her husband Mario. She will be missed by her family and by the countless friends and people whose lives she touched. There was a Mass of Christian Burial held on Wednesday, July 21st, 2021 at Our Lady of The Valley Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Wellspring Foundation for Education or the BC Cancer Society.
