October 21, 1945 - December 21, 2019
Carolyn Marie O'Neill of Kitimat, BC, currently residing in Salmon Arm, passed away suddenly on December 21, 2019. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, doting Nana and friend.
Carolyn was born October 21, 1945 and spent her early years near Glenboro, MB studying and actively participating in 4H. She married the love of her life, Bill, on August 29, 1970 and graduated, as an RN, from the School of Nursing at Brandon General Hospital. In 1973, Bill and Carolyn relocated to Kitimat, BC and started their family the following year. Carolyn enjoyed working in the Operating Room at Kitimat General Hospital, but she was also at home on the Extended Care Ward. She was compassionate and patient, and always had an unending amount of love to share. Carolyn truly made a difference and we will always be proud of her.
She could often be found at the ski cabin on Hudson Bay Mountain that she and Bill built, along with much help from family and friends. Certainly, a favourite and happy "home" where many wonderful and unforgettable memories were created. Carolyn was a kind and loving woman who, stubbornly, did not want to ask for help when needed or warranted, preferring to figure things out on her own. She also insisted on being fashionably late.
Carolyn is survived and lovingly remembered by her son David O'Neill, daughter Shannon (Scott) Beck, her precious grandsons Kaiden and Nolan, brother Dwayne (Irene) Drinkwater, brothers in-law Glenn (Donna) O'Neill and George (Theresa) O'Neill, and sisters in-law Florence (Rob) Sauve and Pamela Smith, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, brother Ross, parents Ivan and Amelia Drinkwater, Pearl Drinkwater, In-laws Albert and Christine O'Neill, and brother in-law Jim Smith.
The family extend our appreciation to all our dear friends and family for their support and kindness during this difficult time. And a special thank you to Jodie Pruden. A Celebration of Life will be held in Glenboro, MB in summer 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
