July 3, 1937 - March 24, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with deep sadness that we announce the loss of our dear Mom, Mum, Grandma, Gigi, teacher and friend, Beryl Hubbard (nee Maden). She joined her beloved Lloyd on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2024 in Kitimat at the grand age of 86 and is now peacefully seated beside her beloved husband Lloyd. Beryl was born in Rochdale, England on July 3, 1937 and came to Canada in 1948 with her mother Elsie, father Leonard, Auntie Alice and cousin Derek. Beryl loved life, any travel, crafting, eating out, telling her life stories, The Royal Family, shopping, making lists on anything she could write on and was always ready to jump in for any fun opportunity that might pop up as well as learning new skills like playing her ukulele and reading brail. She was a truly amazing woman who raised her 2 boys, David Duncalf and Paul (Cindy) Duncalf, while finishing her high school diploma, then pursuing her teaching degree at Simon Fraser University. She moved with her 2 sons to Kitimat in 1973 where her career spanned for many years teaching and focusing on children with special needs which was truly her passion. Beryl met and married her beloved Lloyd in 1977 and they began a blended family with his children, Bruce Hubbard, Lyle Hubbard (former wife Brenda), Carin Hart (Dave) and Glen Hubbard (Bernie). Over the years, they were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. They were later blessed with meeting Lloyd's first daughter Paula Lafontaine and creating new memories with her and her husband Paul.

Beryl was very involved in the community as well as her students and their families. She was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. For this she was awarded the Kitimat Lady of the Year award for 83/84.

She followed up her teaching degree with a Masters' Degree from Oxford University in England when she was approximately 55 years of age.

Special thanks to her many caregivers throughout her years including Delta King staff, Dr. Kay and Skully, her wonderful Handi-Dart driver Oscar and the many others who played an extra special part throughout her 86 years.

As we, her family and friends, navigate through our grief, we are always reminded of Beryl's favorite saying "THIS TOO SHALL PASS" which will always leave a smile on our faces.

A celebration of her life will be held on July 3rd at the United Church at 2:30, followed by a light reception.
