It is with great sadness in our hearts the family of Artur Spanevello announces his passing on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at the age of 87.
Artur was born in Vienna in 1932, he married Gisela and they moved to Canada in 1957 to Kitimat where they raised two daughters, Denise and Nicole. Artur remarried years later to Catherine (Doug) and raised a daughter, Erin.
He was a great dancer, he loved to swim, enjoyed badminton, played chess and loved history, which he could talk about at length. He loved good food, fine chocolate and a European Bakery. When asked what did Art do for a living, it was easier to answer what didn't he do. He had many successful and diverse business ventures too many to list. One of his favourite ventures was blasting for road construction, he earned the name "Cap't Crunch" for his boat parking skills, despite getting his crew safely to all the sites they worked.
Artur is survived by his loving daughters with Gisela: Denise and Nicole (Mike). He is predeceased by his loving daughter Erin with Catherine (Doug). Artur leaves behind his grandchildren Julien and Alexa, his sister Helga (Rudi), niece Olivia (Tomasz) and great niece Viktoria. Artur also leaves behind long-time friend and business partner Leon.
The family would also like to thank with sincere gratitude the staff at La Rosa Gardens and the care team at Avenir Memory Care Nanaimo.
There will be no service at this time, In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
