September 23, 1933 - May 13, 2018
On Sunday May 13, 2018 we said farewell to an amazing husband, dad, granddad, brother, uncle, and friend, Rusty Monti.

Rusty was born and raised in Hillcrest, Alberta along with his 8 brothers and sisters. He moved to Kitimat in 1956 where he was employed by Alcan as a Crane Operator in the potlines and later specialized as a Gas/Steam Pipefitter. Shortly after arriving in Kitimat, he met his wife and best friend Barb. They were married on July 23, 1960. In 1963 they started their family and had three children. In 1996 the first of six grandchildren was born.

Rusty retired in 1993 to enjoy his favorite activities, fishing, hunting, curling, golf, and time with his family. He spent many hours over the years at the golf and curling clubs volunteering his time on the maintenance of the facilities. Rusty is remembered for his positive approach, strong work ethic, and his dedication to helping others when needed.

Rusty will be missed by his family and friends, but we will keep the memories we have of him close to our hearts and do everything we can to help others in the community, just like Rusty did.

In memory of Rusty the family has chosen to create a foundation that will focus on fundraising for the Kitimat General Hospital & Health Centre and the community of Kitimat. Rusty's final wish was for the hospital to have a High Flow Oxygen Machine so that future patients could stay in Kitimat for care, close to home and family.
