Anne Rose Elfert

February 23, 1929 to October 14, 2016

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Anne Rose Elfert. She passed away peacefully on October 14, 2016 in Nanaimo, BC at the age of 87. After spending 62 years in Kitimat, Mom had recently moved to Nanaimo to be closer to family.

Mom was born in Germany in 1929. In 1950 she married our father, Karl Fritz Elfert and the following year, the first of their three daughters, Eva, was born. Mom immigrated to Canada in the Spring of 1952, shortly after our Dad did and joined him in Quebec. By 1954, after having made several other moves, they finally settled in Kitimat. Two more daughters, MaryLou and Barb, were born to Mom & Dad in Kitimat.

Mom loved her life in Canada! She enjoyed staying home raising her three girls. She was an avid walker as well as an avid reader. At age 50, she obtained her driver’s license and often enjoyed small drives around the area. She was passionately loyal to those she loved, especially to her family. She taught us not to give up easily but to persevere through life’s challenges and difficulties.

Mom was predeceased by our Father, Karl in 1985 and later by her long-time companion, John Bedard of Granisle, in 2007. She is survived by her three daughters; Eva (Fritz), MaryLou (Dave) and Barb, as well as 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

We extend special thanks to Mary Fonseca, Zo Mulder, Colleen Velho and Esther Pereira for their kind, caring friendship with our Mom, especially in her later years.

Thank you, Mom. You gave us so much.

We will love you forever…<3

~ May the winds of love blow softly ~

And whisper so you’ll hear,

We will always love and miss you

And wish that you were here.

Your Girls Always, Eva, MaryLou and Barb.
