July 11, 1958 - August 27, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ana Maria Perestrelo on August 27, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian and peritoneal cancer.
Many of you might remember Ana from her many years working at the North Star Inn as a chambermaid. Ana quickly became a counselor, adoptive mother, and friend to many of the regular residents. She looked after many of these people as if they were her own children, in a time where mental health didn't get the acknowledgement and support it needed. Many turned to her for peace and safety. She fed people whenever she could, especially on holidays, so that everyone could feel the love they deserved.
Ana's greatest passion in life was taking care of her family and those who needed help. She often put herself in harm's way to make sure that everyone was taken care of, and she always tried to see the good in people.
Ana was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, and neighbour. Her love was endless, and so was her wit. She was to the point, but also caring at the same time. She will forever be greatly missed, and she leaves behind a void that cannot be filled.
Ana was born in Furnas, Sao Miguel, Azores, and passed away surrounded by loved ones at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home in Kamloops, BC, on August 27, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Kamloops Hospice Association in Ana's name.
