It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alois (Louis) Lechner, known by many as Opa.
Louis passed away peacefully on November 8th after a short hospitalization, and went to join the love of his life, Emmi who left him in 2013.
Louis was born on February 21, 1929 in Eggersham Austria, and immigrated directly to Kitimat in 1956 to work at Alcan and start a new life with his family. He worked as a millwright, a maintenance planner, and later a supervisor of the crane crew until he retired in 1985.
He loved the fact that he worked for Alcan for 27 years, and collected a pension from them for 32 years.
He enjoyed music, fishing, hunting, camping and travelling.
Louis' family cherish the memories of a loving husband and a devoted family man, who adored his children, grand children and great grandchildren.
Louis leaves behind his sisters Emmi and Ernie, his children Emi (Bill), Ron (Jenny) Gord (Lesley), grandchildren Travis (Kaylee), Angela (Graham), Calvin (Chantelle), Darien, Morgan, Linden and great Grandchildren Addison and Sienna.
A Memorial Service was held on Thursday, November 17th at Christ the King Parish in Kitimat.
