In Loving Memory of Alfredo Mauro
born October 30, 1922 passed away January 12, 2009
in Kitimat BC.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of
Alfredo Mauro at the age of 86.
Alfredo lived most of his long, happy life in Kitimat. He immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1951 and went to Timmins, ON. In 1954 he moved to Pr. George, BC to join his brother John. After a few months he headed to Kitimat with his friends to work for Alcan. Alfredo’s family joined him in Kitimat in May 1959.
Left to mourn him are his son Francesco (Marianna); his daughters Nella (Sauro) Banducci, Maria (Alex) Kotai; five grandchildren, Lara Banducci, Nadia Mauro, Alex Jr., David and Daniel Kotai; and eight great grandchildren.
Also survived by his brother John Mauro of Pr. George and many relatives in Italy, Canada and USA.
He was predeceased by his wife Ida in January 2008, and his grandson Michele Mauro in 1997.
Alfredo was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring and dedicated staff at the Multi-level Care Unit as well as Dr. Huang and Dr. Skully for their loving care of our father.
Prayers for Alfredo were recited at Christ the King Catholic Church in Kitimat on Wednesday, January 14 at 7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, January 15 at 1:30 pm by Father Pier Pandolfo. Interment will take place in Vancouver, BC at the Ocean View Mausoleum.
